Hi! I’m Kalli and welcome to Oakhurst Kitchen. My husband Josh and I hope this can be place where we can share the fabulous foods and drinks we’ve come to love. We’re calling it a gastroblog.
Is gastroblog even a real term, you ask? Well, we hope to make it one.
So much of our inspiration has come from the creative dishes and cocktails at local gastropubs around Atlanta and around the world. So here’s a place where we can share this style of food and drink with everyone…even if you aren’t lucky enough to be able to check out these inspiring restaurants in person. Also, Josh and I met on a blind date at one of THE best gastropubs in Atlanta. So maybe now you can start to understand our fascination.
Our own cooking adventures started in a tiny kitchen inside our first apartment. Seriously, I don’t know how we managed to host dinner parties out of this mini kitchen, but somehow we pulled it off and had loads of fun doing it. We also entered a fateful cooking contest and produced the winning recipe from that little kitchen. Tons of great memories there.
We’ve been fortunate to move into a much more normal size kitchen and it’s blown our minds and made us that much more committed to building our culinary skills. Plus, my day job is working at a hospital and it can sometimes be a wicked bummer. Cooking (and cocktail making) can be much needed escape and way to unwind after a long day. You know how it is…
